Emergency One

Case Study

Emergency One, based in Ayrshire in Scotland, is the UK market leader for designing and manufacturing customised fire engines. With a dominant domestic market position the company wanted to consider international trade possibilities, to contribute to continued growth. An international strategy workshop held with senior and middle management representatives identified and prioritised international opportunities, including the required resources. Scottish Development International (SDI) supported elements of the new export action plan, including the appointment of a new international manager, and the travel costs associated with visiting three priority overseas regions. We worked with SDI’s overseas offices and GlobalScots to gather additional information about each target market’s fire rescue and emergency vehicles industry, to gain introductions to key buyers & organisations, and to be able to bid for procured projects. What was first perceived as additional ‘icing on the cake’ business, exporting has now become mainstream activity for Emergency One
