Scottish Development International

Scottish Development International (SDI) is the Scottish Government’s economic development agency responsible for attracting inward investment, and for assisting ambitious indigenous Scottish companies to export. Stewart Miller worked as a part time contractor for the SDI Export Advisory Programme, which was created to help increase the number of exporters in Scotland. (In 2019 only 70 companies were responsible for 50% of Scotland’s exports).  Stewart worked with over 400 businesses in the Highlands of Scotland, Ayrshire, and Dumfries & Galloway. In this role he advised many businesses to undertake international trade in a strategic manner. Currently, working with Strategem Ltd, Stewart is a key presenter on SDI’s Preparing to Export Programme. Aimed at new and inexperienced exporters, the programme is a mix of e-learning, online workshops, and one-to-one support. Stewart has delivered many additional programmes for SDI in recent times, such as the US Accelerator programme for food & drink exporters, and a number of other sector programmes for renewable energy, space, and photonics.
